The First and Only Locally Owned Cannabis Store Opens in Burns Lake
Run by Local Women with First Nations Partnership

Burns Lake, BC: Crossroads Cannabis announces its doors have opened to the public in time for 2022. Locally owned by the Sam and Swenson families, both of whom have deep roots in Burns Lake and surrounding communities.

Crossroads Cannabis is led by Kim Sam and Corrine Swenson, both of whom grew up in Burns Lake and want to provide a welcoming experience for all their customers. As women, they want to ensure everyone feels comfortable shopping at Crossroads Cannabis. With the legalization of Cannabis, the culture is becoming mainstream with quality products and tasteful accessories, both of which will be available in-store at Crossroads Cannabis.

Though cannabis was legalized in late 2018, they understand how some may still feel unsure entering their store, which is why customers will be greeted by familiar and friendly faces of local staff called Budtenders, who are waiting to answer questions, guide customers through their options, and provide an intimate shopping experience. Their website enables customers to order their products for either pick-up, curbside pick-up, or delivery (coming soon).

Many who have frequented the Subway in Burns Lake will recognize the friendly face of Cassie Sam who is stepping up to manage the day-to-day operations of the store. She is looking forward to helping to create the vision the families have for the business.

Corrine Swenson, Managing Partner said,

“We are proud to open our store in our hometown and provide quality service and products. We grew up here. Both families want to continue to support the community and give back as both business owners and long-time residents of Burns Lake.”

Kim Sam, Managing Partner said,

“The Sam family are excited to open another First Nation, locally owned business in our community.   Our hope is to create a place where everyone can feel welcome, feel comfortable exploring our menus, and are excited to speak to the Crossroads team about the products available. “

The Swenson and Sam Families are Local Business Owners

Corrine Swenson spent 10 years with the Regional District of Bulkley- Nechako as Manager of Regional Economic Development, which gives her a unique insight into what the area and its residents need from business to support the community. Josh Swenson, co-owner, has been operating businesses in Burns Lake since 2001 with the opening of a successful IT business and more recently started a new business with Corrine, Elevate Business Technologies.

Kim Sam is co-owner of the local Subway for over a decade.  Kim also has two decades of experience working with Burns Lake Band as the Finance Manager. Her experience in finance and within both the local business community and with the local First Nations brings a unique insight and a proven track record of success.

Both Managing Partners, Corrine and Kim, have experience in the Cannabis industry providing them with the necessary knowledge to succeed in this venture. Both women understand that there is always much to learn about a new industry and meeting the needs of their customers and are up for the challenge! They look forward to serving Burns Lake and the surrounding communities.

This family-owned and operated business is ready to welcome customers of legal age to their store at the crossroads of Hwy 16 and 35, 166 Highway 16. The hours of operation are seven days a week, 10 am- 11 pm.
